acne information

Acne is a common and sometimes chronic condition that causes pimples, often on the skin of your face, shoulders, back, and chest.

Acne is a skin condition that’s caused by clogged or irritated pores. It often appears on the face, chest, and back and can be uncomfortable to the touch. Acne can vary in severity with cystic acne being one of the most severe forms. Mild acne may still result in scarring, but cystic acne often produces significant scars on the skin.

Acne outbreaks cause four different types of inflammation:

Papules are little bumps that typically don’t go deeper than the top layer of skin. They’re usually red, and feeling them can actually be a sensitive experience. Unlike pustules, papules don’t produce pus and they don’t go deeper than just beneath the skin’s surface.

Pustules are similar to papules but have a clear head or point in the center, caused by a build-up of pus. These are often misidentified as whiteheads, but they tend to be larger and more inflamed.

Nodules are large, hard lumps that develop deep beneath your skin. They can cause a feeling of pressure under your skin and can be painful when you move. There is no head to these but they appear inflamed.

Cystic acne is the harshest type of inflammation caused by acne. A cyst is a pus-filled lump that appears under the skin and takes time to develop a head. Cystic acne carries the greatest risk of leaving permanent scars.

We offer a variety of acne treatment options for clients with mild to moderate acne. Quality treatments can assist in healing active inflammations, so you’ll feel confident again.

Here are the most common theories about what causes acne.

Reddened skin usually caused by rapid changes in oil production, dead skin cells, or excess sebum
Pimples may be caused by dirt and other skin particles lodged
Scars may come from cutaneous bacterial cysts

Pores are holes in the skin that connect to glands. These glands produce a naturally-oily substance known as sebum. Your body produces sebum to keep your skin moisturized and protected.

Acne, on the other hand, is caused by an excessive production of sebum. Acne occurs when your pores become inflamed with excess sebum or cellular debris. The skin reacts by forming papules and pustules. In response to a blocked gland or follicle.

Acne can have a variety of causes, such as hormonal or genetic factors. In most cases, acne only affects adolescent people during hormone fluctuations. But it can impact both men and women in adulthood.

Acne is a very common condition for many individuals. Though some people will experience mild inflammation, the severity of their acne shouldn’t be too severe. At the Eden Skin Clinic, we offer a variety of treatments for most types of acne to help soothe current inflammations and to prevent future breakouts from occurring.

If you have acne, you’re not alone. In fact, more than 50 million people in the U.S. suffer from this skin condition. That’s why we created Clear-Z™ and a 30-day Clear-Z™ program that tackles every part of your skin care regimen to clear up your complexion by clearing off all the dead skin cells that clog pores and prevent good bacteria (Acne-sus) from doing its job.
